WALSH COUNTY, N.D. (AP) — Late blight has been found on potatoes in Walsh County, North Dakota’s leading spud producer.

Nick David, extension potato agronomist for North Dakota State University and the University of Minnesota, said growers should scout their fields and apply fungicides as needed.

Blight earlier this year was confirmed in Dickey County, in the southeastern part of the state. Walsh County is in the northeast.

Late blight can hurt yields and quality, and has the potential to grow rapidly out of control.
