Post 19 sweeps Linton

LaMoure’s Legion Post 19 baseball team picked up a pair of victories over Linton in LaMoure on Thursday.

LaMoure put seven runs on the scoreboard in the first two innings against Linton during the opening Section 2 contest. LaMoure tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the fourth to beat Linton 11-0 in five innings.

Aaron Stemen pitched a dandy for Lamoure, allowing just one hit to earn the shutout and striking out 11 batters. Stemen also went 2 for 3 at the dish with two runs scored and two RBIs.

LaMoure’s Cole Gentzkow also had a big game, going a perfect 3 for 3 at the pate with a double, stolen base, three runs scored and an RBI.

In the nightcap, LaMoure’s Austin Smith delivered a bases-clearing double in the bottom of the fifth inning to help LaMoure rally to an 8-7 victory.

Linton led 7-5 heading into the final frame behind a three-RBI night from David Schuetz. Smith finished the game going 3 for 3 with two runs scored and 4 RBIs for LaMoure.
