The Jamestown Planning Commission received a report from Reed Schwartzkopf, city engineer, summarizing the water issues in southwest Jamestown including the area of the Jamestown Regional Medical Center during its regular meeting Monday, according to Harley Trefz, chairman of the commission.
“We passed a motion urging the city to budget for a water need study to be done yet this fall,” Trefz said.
The commission also urged the city to cover the costs of larger pipes for two projects in order to provide additional capacity in the future. New water lines will be installed to the North Dakota State Hospital and the Regional Medical Center at the expense of the two facilities. Increasing the size of the lines would be at the expense of the city.
“We’re requesting the city pay for enough capacity in those lines so they won’t have to be enlarged in the future,” Trefz said.
