Sens. Byron Dorgan and Kent Conrad and Rep. Earl Pomeroy announced Thursday that area airports will be receiving U.S. Department of Transportation grants.
Carrington Municipal Airport, along with airports in Beach, Cando, Crosby, Lakota, Mercer County, Northwood and Walhalla will share $662,779 for runway upgrades.
Linton Municipal Airport will receive $165,000 to add a fuel tank, repair a runway, improvements to the taxiway and access road planning.
“These grants will go a long way in boosting infrastructure at rural airports across North Dakota,” the delegation said in a joint statement. “Small airports are crucial to North Dakota’s industry and economy, and these investments by the federal government will ensure that rural residents will have public airport access for years to come.”
