2 children hurt during N.D. State Fair parade

Authorities are investigating how two children were run over by floats during the North Dakota State Fair parade in Minot.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Authorities are investigating how two children were run over by floats during the North Dakota State Fair parade in Minot.

Richard Lewellyn of the Minot police department says a 7-year-old girl fell to the pavement as she was trying to get off the float and was run over by both wheels of the dual-axle trailer carrying the float.

That happened about 11 a.m. Saturday. A few minutes later at another spot on the parade route, a 5-year-old boy waving to spectators tripped and fell while trying to hop off a float. One of his legs was run over a wheel on the float's trailer.

The injured children were taken to a hospital for treatment. Their names and details of their injuries have not been released.

Police say there have been similar incidents in the parades.
