Jamestown Fire Department July 23-29:

July 23: 9:45 a.m., fire department hazardous materials team responded to Interstate 94 mile marker 232 eastbound, to assist with a hazardous materials spill at the request of Medina Fire Department. Chemical was identified and was covered with black dirt by the North Dakota Department of Transportation. Cause: container/s fell off of vehicle. No firefighter injuries. Time out: three hours, 50 minutes.

July 24: 4:49 a.m., ready squad responded to U.S. Highway 281 and I-94, Super 8 Motel, to investigate a fire alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire; none was found. Cause: systems malfunction. Fire alarm was reset. Time out: 20 minutes.

July 28: 10:20 a.m., ready squad responded to 2605 Circle Drive, NDSH-Lahaug Building, to investigate a fire alarm activation. Cause: contractor working on system. Fire alarm was reset. Time out: 30 minutes.

July 29: 2:23 p.m., ready squad responded to 1506 Fourth Ave. N.W., family dwelling, to investigate smoke in structure. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire; none was found. Cause: contractor for the city of Jamestown testing sewer system. Time out: 15 minutes.

July 29: 4:55 p.m., ready squad responded to 906 Eighth Ave. N.W., family dwelling, to investigate smoke in structure. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire; none was found. Cause: contractor for the city of Jamestown testing sewer system. Time out: 15 minutes.

July 29: ready squad responded to 241 Northland Estates, family dwelling, to check for carbon monoxide. Firefighters checked for carbon monoxide with a multi gas detector and 0 ppm was detected. Cause: detector malfunction. Time out: 30 minutes.
