Verna Olson, 74, New Rockford, N.D., died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake, N.D. Verna Joyce Jordan was born on Oct. 8, 1935, on the family farm in Eddy County, North Dakota, the daughter of Arthur and Zada (Sproat) Jordan.

Verna Joyce Jordan was born on Oct. 8, 1935, on the family farm in Eddy County, North Dakota, the daughter of Arthur and Zada (Sproat) Jordan. She attended school at Columbia, N.D. and Sheyenne, N.D. She married Eugene Weisenburger on Nov. 20, 1953, in New Rockford. She was a homemaker and helped on the farm in Brantford, N.D. They divorced in 1967 and she moved to Minot, N.D. She married Stan Olson in 1969. They lived in North Dakota, Minnesota and Montana. She worked for her mother at the Cozy Kitchen Cafe, Richey, Mont., and was a cook for the Senior Citizens. She returned to New Rockford in 1994, worked for various cafes, and later worked as a certified nursing assistant for Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, cookbooks, cooking and gambling.

She is survived by three sons, Eddie Weisenburger, New Rockford, Russell (Tommi) Weisenburger, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Grant Olson, Richey; five daughters, Vicki (Tim) Roemmich, Holdrege, Neb., Nancy (Dick) Huber, Billings, Mont., Karla (James) Dockter, New Rockford, Mary (Wes) Vine, Vida, Mont., and Denise Drew, Richey; three sisters, Lois (Leonard) Jacobsen, New Rockford, Sandy (Ron) Melhoff, Minot, and Carolyn (Casper) Feist, Grand Forks, N.D.; a brother, Artie (Annette), Howard Lake, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Russell, Glenn and Bert; and an infant sister, Shirley.

Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, United Methodist Church, New Rockford, with the Rev. Dale Emery officiating.

Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. today, Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Burial: Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford.
