Vandals did an undetermined amount of damage to golf carts, greens and irrigation equipment at the Jamestown Country Club Sunday night, according to Dave Orr, Stutsman County sheriff.
“It looks like four golf cars they played demolition derby with,” he said. “And they ran over control boxes, sand traps and tore up some greens.”
No estimates of damages were available pending a check of the amount of damage done to the control boxes. The boxes contain electronic equipment used to control the irrigation system on the course. Damage to the golf carts included busted bumpers and damage to the fiberglass bodies.
The incident seemed to be limited to the four golf carts, all owned by the course, and the golf course itself.
“We’ve looked in the sheds where golfers store their cars and we don’t think there was any damage there,” Orr said. “And they don’t appear to have entered the clubhouse.”
Orr said the incident remains under investigation.
