N.D. man suspected in killing appears in court

HAYTI, S.D. (AP) — A North Dakota man accused of killing a South Dakota man made a brief court appearance Friday in South Dakota’s Hamlin County but did not enter a plea.

HAYTI, S.D. (AP) — A North Dakota man accused of killing a South Dakota man made a brief court appearance Friday in South Dakota’s Hamlin County but did not enter a plea.

Forty-three-year-old Steven Helm of Bismarck is to return for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 17.

Helm is being held on $1 million bond in the death of 33-year-old Jesse James Gisi of Watertown. Gisi’s body was found Sunday near a corn field in east-central South Dakota.
