FORT RICE, N.D. (AP) — Morton County planners are recommending a new enforcement ordinance following years of problems in Fort Rice.

Planning and Zoning Commission member Andy Zachmeier said the proposal spells out the authority and responsibility of county officials for enforcing planning and zoning issues and building permits. It also details the penalties for violations.

The decision to rewrite the county ordinance followed an unsuccessful seven-year effort to clean up some properties in the Fort Rice township.

The County Commission must approve. Members are to consider the proposal and hear public comment on Tuesday.
