SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The Army Corps of Engineers expects runoff into the Missouri River system to be 153 percent of average this year and possibly the third highest on record.

The six reservoirs will be storing 64 million acre-feet of water at the end of August. That would be the largest amount in 11 years.

The corps said it plans to discharge more water through the dams this month to lower the reservoirs in preparation for next year's runoff. The level of some reservoirs could fall by 5 feet in August.
