SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Sanford Health has named a director for its new Office of Native American Health.
Dr. Donald Warne most recently served as head of the Aberdeen Area Tribal Chairmen's Health Board in Rapid City. He also is an adjunct clinical professor at the Arizona State University law school, where he teaches American Indian health policy.
With Sanford, he will coordinate activities among the health network, tribes and the Indian Health Service.
Warne is a member of the Oglala Lakota tribe from Pine Ridge.
Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford and Fargo, N.D.-based MeritCare merged last year, creating Sanford Health.
