MANDAN, N.D. (AP) — The banks of the Heart River along south Mandan are getting a $1.5 million upgrade.

Lower Heart Water Resource District chairman Bill Robinson said the stabilization project is in response to damage caused by spring 2009 flooding.

The Army Corps of Engineers is funding the project, which should wrap up by late October. Corps civil engineer Don Moses said the project will shore up a levee system that protects millions of dollars of property.
