One Jamestown police officer will be honored after alerting three sleeping men early Monday morning that the house they were in was filling with smoke.

Officer Michael Craig was on patrol at 2:20 a.m. when he saw smoke coming from the roof of a residence at 417 First Ave. N.

Craig pounded on the door but received no response. He then kicked the door in and found three male Jamestown College students asleep. They were evacuated and had no idea the house was filling with smoke.

No injuries were reported and the Jamestown Fire Department is investigating the cause.

Craig will receive a commendation for his efforts.
