N.D. may get more weatherization funds

BISMARCK (AP) — North Dakota is in line for another $12.5 million in federal stimulus money to weatherize low-income homes.

BISMARCK (AP) — North Dakota is in line for another $12.5 million in federal stimulus money to weatherize low-income homes.

Federal Energy Secretary Steven Chu said North Dakota has completed weatherization work on more than 900 homes, or about one-third of the homes planned for the work with the initial $12.5 million. He said that makes the state eligible for the second half of the grant.

The state’s congressional delegation said the assistance program is important because home heating during a North Dakota winter can take a big bite out of a family’s budget.
