BISMARCK (AP) — Some Bismarck bar owners want the City Commission to address smoking shelters, now that commissioners have banned bar patrons from lighting up.

The ordinance recently approved that bans smoking in bars effective Nov. 1 prohibits smoking within 10 feet of a business entrance or exit.

Some bar owners would like the ability to have partially enclosed structures near exits for smokers to use in the winter.

Commissioner Josh Askvig said the commission will address concerns as they arise, but he doesn’t anticipate altering the smoking ordinance.
