The Fargodome has officially announced the Oct. 22 return of country superstars George Strait and Reba McEntire.

Fargodome General Manager Rob Sobolik said the facility was holding the date when the show was listed on touring industry website www.pollstar.com and the Country Music Television website in early June.

“We’re very pleased to add another show to a busy fall here at the Fargodome,” Sobolik said Tuesday.

Both Strait and McEntire hold Fargodome records. Strait’s 1997 show packed 27,000 fans in for the biggest single-date performance. This will be McEntire’s record seventh dome show, though her first in 12 years.

Strait was named the Academy of Country Music’s Entertainer of the decade in 2009. McEntire was the ACM’s top female vocalist seven times from 1984-94.

“These are sought-after names,” Sobolik said. “It’s great to bring them all back to the Fargodome.”

Opening the bill is singer Lee Ann Womack, the 2001 Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year.

Sobolik said he expected between 15,000 and 17,000 fans to attend, but that the Dome would be able to allow for a bigger audience.

Tickets for the concert go on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 11 through all Ticketmaster outlets for $69.50 and $89.50 or by calling (800) 745-3000.
