Names to be added to soldier memorial in Bismarck
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Three more North Dakota soldiers killed in action in the global war on terror will be honored Saturday, on the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Three more North Dakota soldiers killed in action in the global war on terror will be honored Saturday, on the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
A ceremony is set for 2 p.m. at the North Dakota Memorial to the Fallen in the Global War on Terrorism, at the entrance of Fraine Barracks in Bismarck.
Names that will be added to the memorial are Marine Sgt. Michael Bitz, Army Pfc. Jonathan Yanney and Army Spc. Keenan Cooper.
Bitz, formerly of Wishek, was killed in Iraq in March 2003. Yanney, formerly of Hettinger, was killed in Afghanistan last August. Cooper, formerly of Wahpeton, was killed in Afghanistan in July.
The additions will bring the number of names on the memorial to 24.
