GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The NCAA says it's satisfied with the University of North Dakota's plan to retire its Fighting Sioux nickname and logo.

A release issued Friday says UND has been removed from the list of schools subject to its policy on American Indian nicknames. The NCAA considers the nickname hostile and abusive.

A lawsuit settlement with the NCAA gave the school until Nov. 30 to solve the logo issue or abide by NCAA sanctions.

A phone call to the UND athletic department was not immediately returned.
