The Bismarck City Commission has snuffed out a proposal to ban tobacco sales in the city.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The Bismarck City Commission has snuffed out a proposal to ban tobacco sales in the city.

Only one commissioner on Tuesday night favored bringing the matter to a public hearing.

The commission approved a Sept. 28 hearing on a proposed ordinance that would allow so-called smoking huts outside bar entrances. A smoking ban for bars goes into effect Nov. 1.
