Only time will tell, but after 11 matches to start the season the Cardinals improved to a perfect 11-0 by taking down the New Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets 3-0 in New Rockford on Thursday night.
Last Tuesday in Carrington, the Cardinals also swept Harvey, the defending region champs, 3-0.
The Cardinals jumped all over the Rockets on Thursday, cruising in the first set 25-12. Carrington kept the pressure on to close out the match 25-15, 25-14.
Sierra Rosenau slammed home a game-high 17 kills in the match, which was complemented by Emily Thompson’s seven kills. Thompson, a 6-foot-1 middle blocker, had a nice match, accounting for three blocks, 16 digs and seven ace serves.
Rosenau also led the Cardinals in digs with 20, while teammate Noelle Braaten served up 19 assists.
The Rockets were kept busy on the other side of the net during the match, as Taryn Jacob, Rachel Allmaras and Cassidy Weber combined for an eye-popping 81 digs. Jacob led the team with 32 digs.
Katie Demester led the Rockets in kills, assists and aces, with five, five and two, respectively.
The loss dropped NR-S to 2-6 overall on the season.

Midkota improved to 8-2 overall with a 3-0 win over Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg at home in Binford.
Emily Berge paced the Mustangs with nine kills, six blocks and three aces to help Midkota roll by the finals of 25-16, 25-18, 25-23.
Sarah Lornez led the Patriots with six kills.

Going back and forth throughout an intense matchup, BCN won 18-16 in the final fifth set at Edgeley.
As BCN battled their way through a close one, Jessa Lindgren pounded the net with 18 kills and five blocks.
Miranda Brandenburg’s 20 assists were team leading.
The Rebels’ Jenna Gullickson and Allison Windish combined for six of the team’s aces.

After scoring 25 points in four consecutive sets the Linton Lions defeated Kidder County 3-1.
Leading the way for the Lions was Kayln Schneider, who worked all around the court. She collected 21 kills, 18 digs, and four blocks.
Paula Nagel and Whitney Gerving each had 29 digs on the night which saved the team in numerous occasions.
Samantha Rangeloff helped contribute to Kidder County with 15 digs, 10 kills, six blocks, and a single assist.

Setting the tone early was the key to success for the Ellendale Cardinals as they took the first two sets 25-14, and 25-16.
P-B-K showed their heart with their 5-0 record at stake during the final set losing 25-21.
Meg Martin brought her ‘A’ game by collecting 11 kills, seven digs and three blocks while Kiley Fuller added 20 assists during the sweep at home.
P-B-K was led by Kelly Carlson with eight kills and eight digs. Stacy Luidahl had the lone ace.
Ellendale improved their record to 3-2 while P-B-K drops to 5-1.

Northwood fought off a tough Dakota Prairie team in the first set and held on to sweep Dakota Prairie on the road 25-23, 25-17, 25-17.

After narrowly escaping with a victory in the second set, the Harvey Hornets made sure the deciding set wouldn’t be so close.
Harvey swept Wells County 25-17, 25-23 and 25-9 in Harvey after two Hornets were able to reach the double-digit mark in kills.
Sheyenne Schneider was a force at the net for the Bears as she led the team with three blocks while also pounding 11 kills.
Rachel Nyhus finished with a team-high 13 kills and Becca Kourijian had 35 assists.
