In conjunction with honoring Gold Star Mothers Day, the club has scheduled a drawing for a quilt made in honor of Beyer by his aunt along with three $50 cash prizes Sept. 25 at the All-Vet’s Club. The club asks everyone to fly their flags on Sept. 26 to honor fallen soldiers and Gold Star Mothers and their families.

Gold Star Mother’s Day is observed in the U. S. on the last Sunday of September each year. It is a day to for people to recognize and honor those who have lost a son or daughter while serving in the U.S. armed forces. Gold Star Mothers are mothers who have lost a child in the U.S. military.

Each year the U.S. president is requested to issue a proclamation to: call on U.S. government officials to display the nation’s flag on all government buildings; and to call on people to display the flag to publicly express reverence for those who are Gold Star Mothers and their families.
