Virginia Fischer, 75, Napoleon, N.D., died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, at Medcenter One, Bismarck, N.D. Virginia Uglem was born Dec. 21, 1934, at Bismarck, the daughter of Calmer and Clara (Johnson) Uglem. She grew up and graduated from school in Steele, N.D.

Virginia Fischer, 75, Napoleon, N.D., died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, at Medcenter One, Bismarck, N.D.

Virginia Uglem was born Dec. 21, 1934, at Bismarck, the daughter of Calmer and Clara (Johnson) Uglem. She grew up and graduated from school in Steele, N.D. She attended Valley City (N.D.) State College and earned her teaching certificate. She married Jim Fischer on Dec. 16, 1957, at Steele. They lived in Steele and she taught at a country school in the area. They moved to Minneapolis, Minn., in the mid 1960s, where she worked at a nursing home. In 1976, they moved to Napoleon. She worked for Logan County Social Services from 1977 to 1988. She taught piano and organ lessons for many years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon, and served as church organist for many years. She enjoyed the arts.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Judy Robinette, Napoleon; two sons, Jerry (Deb), Bondurant, Iowa, and Robert (Brenda), Napoleon; a son-in-law, Sebastian Bitz; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Bitz; her parents; a sister, Melva Norling; and a son-in-law, Ken Robinette.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon.

Visitation: 1 to 8 p.m. today, Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon.

Burial: Napoleon City Cemetery, Napoleon.
