The Jamestown United Presbyterian Church is combining with the Presbyterian churches in Edgelely, Ellendale, LaMoure, Lisbon and Oakes to present a Festival of Music at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Presbyterian/United Methodist Church in Ellendale.

This event will include a combined choral choir directed by Joe Banister, the Good News Handbell Choir directed by Diane Witzig, organ solo by David Morlock, a men’s quartet, a handbell solo and several Scripture readings from various pastors.

The choir is directed by Banister, retired public school music educator, and is accompanied by Morlock, Jamestown organist. The Good News Handbell Choir is directed by Witzig, who will also ring a solo. The service will include a men’s quartet comprised of William Wojnar, Larry Hoffman, Morlock and Banister, all of Jamestown.

This event came about following an officer training session in 2004 at which this cluster of churches attended. Too many small churches are struggling so one of the goals of that session was to come up with something that could help them stay connected. Hence, the Festival of Music.

The public is welcome to attend.
