N.D. woman sentenced for adoption fraud

FARGO (AP) — A Grand Forks woman has been sentenced to six months in a halfway house and six months home confinement in an adoption fraud case.

Amy Petrick, also known as Amy Galloway, pleaded guilty in June to two federal fraud charges. She also received three years probation.

Authorities said Petrick and Jesse Hutchison were involved in a scheme to defraud aspiring parents through a San Antonio, Texas-based adoption service. They also are accused of defrauding county social services programs.

Hutchison was sentenced last month to three years probation on one count of wire fraud. He was ordered to spend up to four months in a halfway house and receive a mental evaluation.
