Leslie Bryant Baker, 72, La Crosse, Wis., formerly of Ypsilanti, N.D., died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at Bethany St. Joeseph’s Care Center, LaCrosse, after a battle with cancer. Mr. Baker was born July 25, 1938, on a farm near Hazelton, N.D., the son of Bryant and Hazel (Purintun) Baker.

Leslie Bryant Baker, 72, La Crosse, Wis., formerly of Ypsilanti, N.D., died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at Bethany St. Joeseph’s Care Center, LaCrosse, after a battle with cancer.

Mr. Baker was born July 25, 1938, on a farm near Hazelton, N.D., the son of Bryant and Hazel (Purintun) Baker. He attended rural school in the Kintyre, N.D., and Ypsilanti areas. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958. He married Irene (Steele) Anderson on July 25, 1969, at the Little Brown Church, in Nashua, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife; a step-son, Theodore Anderson, Cresco, Iowa; five sisters, Lillian Ellingson, Sun City, Ariz., Lottie Retzlaff, Napoleon, N.D., Florence McClean, Jamestown, Olive Ackerman, Lynchberg, Va., and Mabel Noot, Valley City, N.D.; two brothers, Ray, Jamestown, and Grant (Carol), LaMoure, N.D.; and two step-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-son, Richard Dean Anderson; two sisters, Fern and Opal; and five brothers, Bruce, Russell, Boyd, Lester and Charles.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church, La Crosse.

Burial: 10 a.m. Friday, Ridgeway United Lutheran Cemetery, Ridgeway, Iowa.
