The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation of a fire that burned items left at a memorial at the site of a fatal crash.

The crash claimed the life of a 15-year-old Jamestown youth early Sunday morning.

“We don’t have an official cause at this time but it looks like a purposeful act,” said Jason Falk, deputy with the sheriff’s office.

Flowers and other mementos had been left at the scene by friends and family. The fire occurred sometime Monday night or early Tuesday morning. Friends and family members replaced items after the fire and continued to add to the impromptu memorial.

“The fire remains under investigation and we have talked to a few people of interest in the case,” Falk said.

Shyler Harr was killed in the rollover accident. Chance DeCoteau, 15, Jamestown, remains hospitalized with his injuries from the crash.
