WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) — An Iraq war veteran accused of leading police on a high-speed chase and threatening a person in a Watford City convenience store with guns has been ordered to treatment but still will face criminal charges.

The Bismarck Tribune says 28-year-old Brock Savelkoul, of Minot, has been released by court order and must get treatment at a Veterans Affairs treatment center in Fargo. He later is to be transferred to a VA center in Minnesota that has a 45-day post traumatic stress disorder program.

Savelkoul in December will be back in court to face felony and misdemeanor charges related to the Sept. 21 incident that ended with a two-hour standoff with police.
