GRAFTON, N.D. (AP) — A former Grafton and Grand Forks securities agent accused of bilking area investors out of nearly $3.5 million is headed to trial.
The Grand Forks Herald reports that Judge Laurie Fontaine has ruled there is enough evidence to go to trial with prosecutors’ charges that Ross Haugen defrauded elderly investors in Walsh County.
Haugen faces nearly three dozen counts in two separate cases. Defense attorney Steven Meshbesher has said Haugen made bad decisions but did nothing criminal and also lost his own investments.
Two former partners of Haugen also face charges and are expected to appear in court later this year.
