The Jamestown Sun will resume printing its newspaper in mid-November, according to Bruce Henke, publisher.
The newspaper, which is owned by Forum Communications Co., ceased printing here July 17. The newspaper has been printed at an FCC plant in West Fargo since that time and trucked back to Jamestown for distribution.
“We thought we could make this work,” Henke said. “It didn’t. The Jamestown Sun and Forum Communications Company are committed to excellence and customer service.”
He said the challenges included getting the newspaper to its customers in a timely manner from the West Fargo plant.
“We know that the last three months have been frustrating for our customers as well as us,” Henke said. “We’d like to thank all our customers for their loyalty and apologize for customer service issues the past three months.”
The three pressmen who worked at The Jamestown Sun to print the newspaper and transferred to the plant in West Fargo will also return to The Sun, Henke said. In addition, six people will be hired to work in the mailroom.
“Our goal for the first paper (to be printed in Jamestown) will be Nov. 15,” he said.
The Sun will also resume printing other newspapers and publications. They include the Prairie Post, Valley City Times-Record, Foster County Independent, Carrington; New Rockford Transcript, Edgeley Mail, Tri-County News, Gackle; Union Farmer; Collegian, Jamestown College; and a number of other publications and commercial products.
The Sun employs 40 people.
