Robert Johanns

Robert “Bob” Johanns, 82, New Rockford, N.D., died Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, N.D.

Mr. Johanns was born March 27, 1928, in McHenry, N.D., the son of Anton and Dorothy (Root) Johanns. He graduated from McHenry High School in 1946. He later moved to New Rockford and was employed as a heavy equipment operator for a road construction company for most of his working years. He married Phyllis Hoyt in 1946 at Jessie, N.D. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Eagles Aerie #2923, and the New Rockford Golf Club. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and tinkering in his garage.

He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Pamela (Larry) Larson, Everett, Wash., Barbara (Larry) Norton, Edmonds, Wash., Rebecca (Dave) Andersen, Valley City, N.D., and Darla (Nick) Suryan, Lynnwood, Wash.; a sister, Beverly Ehlers, New Rockford; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, St. John’s Catholic Church, New Rockford, with the Rev. Bernard Pfau officiating.

Prayer service: 7 p.m., Tuesday Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Visitation: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial: Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, rural McHenry, N.D.
