The MDA Lock-Up will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Each participant is sentenced to serve a one-hour sentence and raise bail by calling friends, family and co-workers and encouraging contributions to advance MDA’s lifesaving programs. More than 60 local business leaders were recruited to serve their sentences “behind bars” for MDA.
MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat neuromuscular diseases through worldwide research, comprehensive services, and far-reaching professional and public health education. The funds raised by the Jamestown Lock-Up will help MDA continue to provide services to more than 550 families in Jamestown and surrounding area. MDA provides annual comprehensive clinic services to patients as well as physical and occupational therapy, assistance in the repair of mobility and communication equipment, MDA Summer Camp, and much more.
MDA receives minimal government or United Way funding and relies on private donations and events such as the Jamestown Lock-Up to fund the services provided. For more information on Muscular Dystrophy Association, call 701-235-1988.
