Mental health exam for former judge facing charges

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A judge has ordered a mental health evaluation for a former North Dakota district judge and police chief accused of molesting a girl.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A judge has ordered a mental health evaluation for a former North Dakota district judge and police chief accused of molesting a girl.

The Bismarck Tribune reports that Randall Hoffman will be evaluated at the State Hospital in Jamestown.

Hoffman faces 52 felony sex charges. He's accused of molesting and attempting to rape a teenage girl during the last five years.

The 55-year-old Hoffman is a former district judge in Jamestown. He was police chief in Elgin for five years before his September arrest. He could face life in prison if convicted.
