BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The inaugural Bismarck Beerfest did not raise as much money as organizers had hoped, but they plan to hold the event again next year.

Civic Center marketing and sales director Ross Horner says the September event only broke even, but organizers still donated $2,200 to two local charities.

Horner tells The Bismarck Tribune that the McQuade and Jerome distribution companies and Cloverdale Meats will be involved next year and are discussing ways to boost attendance. He also hopes that two local groups trying to start brewing businesses will be able to contribute locally made beer.
