RAY, N.D. (AP) — The northwest North Dakota town of Ray is working to fix some problems at the city landfill following a routine inspection.
The Williston Herald reports that a state health inspector found uncovered waste and uncontrolled access at the landfill. The inspector also determined that the landfill area is larger than allowed. Some transmission lines near the landfill's southern perimeter also are too close.
Ray Mayor Jerry Ranum classifies the problems as “minor infractions” that are being addressed. He says the uncovered waste was caused by dirt eroding.
