Discussion was held regarding volunteer hours by members. It was encouraged that each member maintains his or her own records to be entered in a drawing to win a gas certificate for $200. The drawing is held at the state convention each year.

It was also decided that SCARTA will assist in the AARP Drivers Safety course that is tentatively planned for Dec. 1. Further announcements will be forthcoming to the public.

Norman reminded all members to vote and that the group is slated to host the state convention in 2012.

Following the luncheon, Bill Kennedy a representative of Jamestown Hospital, shared a presentation on the development of the Jamestown Regional Medical Center slated to open in August 2011. The floor was opened to questions after the presentation.

The next meeting is Nov. 23. David Klein, the executive director of Stutsman Count Housing Authority, will present the program. All retired teachers are welcome and encouraged to join.
