FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Cleanup is expected to begin Sunday at a North Dakota State University research lab that experienced a chemical scare.

University spokeswoman Najla Amundson says an experiment with lithium led to a chemical reaction about 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Research II building at the school's Center for Nanoscience and Engineering. Crews worked into Saturday to secure the area.

No injuries were reported.

Amundson says the chemical waste was taken to a secure disposal facility.

University administrator Philip Boudjouk says there were conflicting reports from suppliers about the possible danger posed by the chemical reaction, so the university was overly cautious in its response.
