GRAND FORKS (AP) — A master sergeant at Grand Forks Air Force Base is facing a court-martial late this month for alleged dereliction of duty.

The attorney for Master Sgt. Lisa Mashburn says she will be exonerated.

Base spokesman Master Sgt. Joseph Kapinos said Mashburn is the sergeant in charge of an operations center where an airman committed suicide in early August.

Kapinos told the Grand Forks Herald that the charge against Mashburn is the military equivalent of a misdemeanor. It has a maximum penalty of a reduction in rank, forfeiture of two-thirds pay for three months and three months confinement.
