Emineth says he won't run for national GOP chair

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Former North Dakota Republican state chairman Gary Emineth says he won't run for the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee.
Emineth has said he was considering a run because he believes incumbent Michael Steele hasn't done a good job.
The Bismarck businessman says Steele wasted money and didn't do enough to support some GOP campaigns. Republicans will elect a national chairman early next year and Steele hasn't said whether he'll run again.
Emineth resigned as North Dakota chairman last July because he said he needed to devote more time to his business interests.
He sent an e-mail message Wednesday to members of the Republican National Committee to tell them he wouldn't run for the national job. Emineth's e-mail said “the timing is not right.”
