BISMARCK – An Emmons County farm family has been recognized with the Commissioner’s Dairy Producers Award for Excellence.

“Arnold and Rosemary Vetter and their six children operate an outstanding dairy facility,” said Wayne Carlson, North Dakota Department of Agriculture livestock development division director, representing Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring.

The Vetters received their award during the 2010 North Dakota Dairy Convention, sponsored by the North Dakota Milk Producers Association (MDA), in Mandan.

“The Vetters work hard to ensure their product meets the demands of state and federal dairy laws and regulations for somatic cell counts, bacteria counts and overall quality standards,” Carlson said. “Their farm has an outstanding inspection record.”

The Vetters milk 60 to 70 cows on their farm near Linton, selling the milk to Land O’Lakes. They also raise wheat, sunflowers and corn, as well as feed crops for their livestock.
