MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Minot police say a boy drowned in the Mouse River after he fell through the ice.
Minot television station KXMC reports that police and firefighters were called to the riverbank behind a mobile-home park on the southeast side of Minot about 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
A boy clinging to a piece of ice in the middle of the river was rescued, but a fire department dive team found another boy unconscious underwater a short time later.
Both boys were taken to a hospital. The boy who died has not been identified.
Authorities warn the public to stay off the river because the ice is thin.
