Police ID boy who drowned in Minot

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Authorities have identified a Minot boy who drowned in the Souris River last weekend.

Police tell KXMC-TV that 12-year-old Virgil Gayle fell through thin ice on the river Saturday morning.

A 9-year-old boy who also fell in clung to a piece of ice and was rescued. He has since been released from a hospital.
