BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven says President Barack Obama has reached out to him to talk about working together.
The Republican governor recently was elected to the U.S. Senate. He says the Democratic president asked his cooperation on tax and economic issues once he takes office.
The call came Tuesday, during the North Dakota Turkey Federation's annual presentation of a Thanksgiving bird to the governor. Hoeven had to put the turkey's “pardon” on hold. Then while Hoeven talked to Obama, Deputy Agriculture Commissioner Bob Christman stepped in to save the turkey.
