What we think: Bundle up and enjoy the parade
The Holiday Dazzle on Main Parade kicks off the season tonight in Jamestown. More than 40 floats will make their way up First Avenue from Eighth Street Southeast to Third Street North. And dozens of participants will ride the floats and walk the parade route to share the holiday spirit with us all. At 7 p.m. the parade participants will start the trek from McElroy Park, taking Second Avenue to Eighth Street and then over to First Avenue. Parade goers need to remember the parade will hit First Avenue near Quiznos.By: Sun Staff, The Jamestown Sun
Parade goers need to remember the parade will hit First Avenue near Quiznos.
It’s expected to be cold out there so bundle up and be prepared. But do make the effort to attend, if for no other reason than to show support for the intrepid participants who will be a lot colder than those of us watching. Keep in mind that we’re all North Dakotans and nearly impervious to cold — or so we like outsiders to believe anyway.
First United Methodist Church near the library will be serving popcorn and warm drinks before, during and after the parade. And there is an after parade party at the Gladstone Inn & Suites to celebrate the success of the seventh annual holiday parade with carols and refreshments.
So dig out your warmest clothes and find a place on First Avenue to watch the parade. You’ll be glad you did. And kudos to all those taking part in the parade. What a great way to kick off the holiday season.
