Blue Jays' Schmitz named all-state

Jamestown High School’s Niki Schmitz has been named to the Class A volleyball all-state team.

Schmitz, a senior middle blocker for the Blue Jays, was one of six players named to the all-state second team.

Schmitz piled up 341 kills in her final season. She also had 172 digs, 47 blocks, 45 aces and 11 assists.

Schmitz was a three-year varsity performer for the Blue Jays, finishing with 605 career kills, 225 digs, 128 blocks, 65 aces and 16 assists.

Dickinson’s Jess Herauf was named the Outstanding Senior Athlete in Class A.

Missy Wilson of Fargo North was named Coach of the Year.
