FARGO, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's largest city is considering regulating drink specials offered by bars.
Fargo's Liquor Control Board started discussing the matter earlier this month, when Police Chief Keith Ternes (TUR’-nuhs) said there were no city ordinances allowing the regulation of bar specials such as free drinks for women on ladies’ night and free 40-ounce birthday drinks.
The Forum reports that some in the bar and restaurant industry say the promotions are not a problem. Businessman Randy Thorson says there's a state law that ensures bars can't over-serve a customer at any price.
The Liquor Control Board plans more discussion at its Dec. 15 meeting.
