Ceremony marks Hovey investiture

James D. Hovey will be sworn in as the newest Southeast Judicial District Court judge in an investiture ceremony with Judge John T. Paulson presiding. The ceremony will be held at the Eddy County Courthouse, New Rockford, N.D., at 4 p.m., Dec. 17.

James D. Hovey will be sworn in as the newest Southeast Judicial District Court judge in an investiture ceremony with Judge John T. Paulson presiding. The ceremony will be held at the Eddy County Courthouse, New Rockford, N.D., at 4 p.m., Dec. 17. The oath of office and presentation of the judge’s robe will be made by Gerald W. VandeWalle, chief justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court, assisted by Hovey’s father, John Hovey. Vandewalle will provide remarks.

Hovey’s gavel will be presented by William A. Neumann, executive director of the State Bar Association, with re-marks on behalf of the State Bar.

Gov. John Hoeven announced his appointment of Hovey on Oct. 20.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony. A reception will follow.
