FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Sanford Health is hiring about 140 employees for a new electronic medical records system.
Chief Technology Officer Craig Hewitt tells The Forum newspaper that the initiative will be phased in over several years. Most of the positions will be in Fargo, N.D., with a few in the Sioux Falls, S.D., area.
With the new system, patients will be able to access medical test results and make appointments. They also will have a single medical record for all medications, diagnostic tests and clinical documents.
Sanford Health was formed last year by the merger of two health systems in North Dakota and South Dakota. It is headquartered in Sioux Falls and Fargo and serves 110 communities in eight states. The records system will be used by all of the health system's sites.
