BISMARCK (AP) — The state Transportation Department issued a travel alert for central and southeast North Dakota through Friday morning.

The department said scattered slippery spots were developing because blowing snow was sticking to the road.

The travel alert included areas north and east of Bismarck along with the Minot, Devils Lake, Jamestown and Valley City areas.

Lt. Robert Opp, supervisor at the Stutsman County Law Enforcement Center, said three crashes happened late Thursday afternoon on Interstate 94. One involved the rescue squad being called out. The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office and North Dakota Highway Patrol responded as well.
