VC Salvation Army receives unique donation

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) — A Salvation Army official in Valley City got a surprise when she went to pick up a donation kettle — it weighed a lot more than she suspected.

KOVC radio reports that someone dropped 1,101 Sakakawea and Susan B. Anthony $1 coins into the kettle. No one has taken credit for the donation.

Barnes County North elementary students helped count the coins.
